I recently joined Goodreads.com after several friends told me how much they enjoyed it. I enjoy it too! It’s basically a book reading forum. You post what book you are reading and can write a review, then your friends can see that and decide whether they want to read it.

Your personal page is organized by shelves, just like your personal library. You have the option of organizing the shelves however you’d like. The defaults are pretty simple with a shelf for read, currently reading and want to read.

It’s yet another way that technology allows us to connect and be friends. If you join using Facebook, it will connect you to all of your Facebook friends who are already on Goodreads–I appreciated that!

I noticed this little widget this morning that said I could post my review in my blog. I thought that was a pretty cool feature so here we go! You see it below. Happy Reading–I hope to see you on Goodreads soon!

Let's Explore Diabetes with OwlsLet’s Explore Diabetes with Owls by David Sedaris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sedaris always makes me laugh out loud. He did not fail with this book, however, there were some retreads that could have been substituted with “Remember the one about waiting in line at the airport?” and I would have had a guffaw or two and been happy. He includes a few, shall we say “pretend” essays, written by characters not him. One of those in particular (about homophobes) is a bit harsh–brutally disturbing, really. I could have done without those, but that might just be me.
